On Tuesday, January 17, 2012 Michael W. “Mike” Evans filed to run for Arnold City Council, Ward 3. Evans had previously begun efforts to pursue the State Legislative seat being vacated by Rep. Tim Meadows due to term limits. Evans said “After multiple people posed the question, are you ready to give up teaching, I realized in fact I was not ready to leave the classroom.” This led Evans to instead find a position to fulfill his passion to serve the community while continuing teaching and his ongoing work with special needs students. He looks forward to continuing his work with programs such as the “Fox Olympics” and leading the efforts to form the first of its kind “Unified Volleyball” league for the students in the district.

Evans also stated “Through my service in the military and experience in the classroom, I have always embodied three qualities: dedication, respect and service. This is who I am and what I believe and will bring these qualities with me when I am elected to represent the people of Ward 3.” Evans continued “Providing efficient and fast services are my number one priority for the people of Ward 3. Additionally, I am ready to take a stand and scrutinize wasteful spending, fight for a sensible budget and improve the services that are often hampered by “backroom deals and politics of deception.” The people of Ward 3 and the people of Arnold, including my grandmother, deserve better and I will deliver.”

####

Mike Evans for Arnold City Council

I am now an official candidate for Arnold City Council Ward 3! Hurry folks, this is a limited time “candidate” and supplies are dwindling fast…

So, here we go again with Mitt Romney and his legendary “Flip-Flop” genre. He’s back and on the hunt for wounded Veterans in 2012! According to Mr. Romney, we should “privatize” Veterans’ health care through a so-called “voucher” system. This type of system is not only irresponsible, but extremely offensive.

The VA health care system does a number of things and provides specialized services that the private sector would never be able to give to our wounded worriers. Can you imagine saying to our amputees and those Veterans with PTSD “wait in line for a voucher, it’s much better for you”? Well, I can’t and I won’t allow this to happen.

Stand with me and send Mr. Romney a message: Don’t mess with the health care needs of our bravest and most courage citizens, our Veterans!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPY5mnQ0nQ4&feature=player_embedded

Mike Evans
U.S. Army Veteran, MO

Presidential Proclamation -Veterans Day

THE WHITE HOUSE
Office of the Press Secretary
For Immediate Release November 3, 2011
VETERANS DAY, 2011
- - - - - - -
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION
Today, our Nation comes together to honor our veterans and commemorate the legacy of profound service and sacrifice they have upheld in pursuit of a more perfect Union. Through their steadfast defense of America's ideals, our service members have ensured our country still stands strong, our founding principles still shine, and nations around the world know the blessings of freedom. As we offer our sincere appreciation and respect to our veterans, to their families, to those who are still in harm's way, and to those we have laid to rest, let us rededicate ourselves to serving them as well as they have served the United States of America.
Our men and women in uniform are bearers of a proud military tradition that has been dutifully passed forward -- from generation to generation -- for more than two centuries. In times of war and peace alike, our veterans have served with courage and distinction in the face of tremendous adversity, demonstrating an unfaltering commitment to America and our people. Many have made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve the country they loved. The selflessness of our service members is unmatched, and they remind us that there are few things more fundamentally American than doing our utmost to make a difference in the lives of others.
Just as our veterans stood watch on freedom's frontier, so have they safeguarded the prosperity of our Nation in our neighborhoods, our businesses, and our homes. As teachers and engineers, doctors and parents, these patriots have made contributions to civilian life that serve as a testament to their dedication to the welfare of our country. We owe them
a debt of honor, and it is our moral obligation to ensure they receive our support for as long as they live as proud veterans of the United States Armed Forces. This year, as our troops in Iraq complete their mission, we will honor them and all who serve by working tirelessly to give them the care, the benefits, and the opportunities they have earned.
On Veterans Day, we pay tribute to our veterans, to the fallen, and to their families. To honor their contributions to our Nation, let us strive with renewed determination to keep the promises we have made to all who have answered our country's call. As we fulfill our obligations to them, we keep faith with the patriots who have risked their lives to preserve our Union, and with the ideals of service and sacrifice upon which our Republic was founded.
2
With respect for and in recognition of the contributions our service members have made to the cause of peace and freedom around the world, the Congress has provided (5 U.S.C. 6103(a)) that November 11 of each year shall be set aside as a legal public holiday to honor our Nation's veterans.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim November 11, 2011, as Veterans Day. I encourage all Americans to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans through appropriate public ceremonies and private prayers. I call upon Federal, State, and local officials to display the flag of the United States and to participate in patriotic activities in their communities. I call on all Americans, including civic and fraternal organizations, places of worship, schools, and communities to support this day with commemorative expressions and programs.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this
third day of November, in the year of our Lord two thousand eleven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-sixth.
BARACK OBAMA
# # #

Evans Prepares for Trip to San Fransisco

Evans will receive a Promising Practices award at the 18th National Forum on Character Education for his work in the creation of the "Fox Olympics".

Mike Evans Supports Arnold Bill # 2482

I wanted to take a minute and express my support for the proposed CVS project to take place at 141 and Jeffco BLVD. Mike Coffman has proposed legislation (HR 621) to eliminate the Selective Service System to save 24 million a year....a small price to pay for an "insurance policy" that ensures when there are multiple military conflicts, we have a system in place that supports our military and ensures our democracy.

Yes, many will say "there is no need for it....we don't need that anymore...there will never be another draft". Wow, was I wrong. Since returning I have been working as a teacher in Arnold, MO at the Fox C-6 District. In the last year I have accepted a position at Fox High School. Since that time, we will have hosted the Vice President and President of the United States. So the fact that I was worried about being away from the political beat is now absurd. I have seen more political action here in Arnold than I would ever get to see in DC.

I look forward to tomorrow's event which I will attend and serve as the liaison between our student volunteers and the white house advance team.

See You Soon!

Mike

There's a fight brewing in Missouri!

Dear Fellow Council Members and State Chairs,

I wanted to take a minute and make you aware of the upcoming fight I'm facing here in Missouri. As many of you know, I have been fighting hard for our veterans here in the show me state. Now that we have captured the Governor's office again, I have put in for appointment to the Missouri Veterans Commission.

Today, I learned that the republican infested Missouri American Legion has denied me an opportunity to REQUEST their support for my nomination. Those in leadership of many of our statewide veterans groups are former public supporters of John McCain and loyalist of our failed former Governor, Matt Blunt.

So with that said, the fight has begun. In the coming weeks and months, I hope I will hear from many of you with your suggestions and comments.

At thirty years of age, ensuring that my generation of veterans have a voice is a must. My brothers and sisters bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan, I hear your voice and I won't let you down!

God Bless the USA!

Sincerely,
PFC. And, as was expected from all of us "evil, out-of-touch democrats", she came out swinging and slurring insults at Senator Obama.

Bragging about her accomplishments as Mayor of some Podunk town in ALASKA (No, I really mean ALASKA!), Palin began her speach by making the flagrant comparison that community organizers don't have a real leadership role...Palin aka "Sara Baracuda" continued her rant by introducing her family. She went on to basically say she was just a hockey mom...and people are hard on her because she's a woman...(blah, blah, blah says Hillary)

She also spoke about her son Track, who is going to be leaving for Iraq...she went on make the case she was a military mom... But, I can't believe as a governor she is making a conscience decision to send her son off to a war that we have no business fighting. It's the wrong time, wrong war...the wrong everything. Sam Page's candidacy to become Missouri's next Lieutenant Governor. After traveling well over 30,000 miles around Missouri vigorously campaigning, I made the decision as a good democrat to withdraw and stand with Rep. Sam Page. It is imperative we take back the Lt. Governor's office in 2008 and ensure that all Missourians have a true advocate, especially our veterans and seniors. The democratic candidate best suited to make this a reality is Rep. Sam Page.

As I stated in my announcement several months ago, it's important we stand behind BOTH Jay Nixon and Sam Page and clear the field of any distractions. I stand by my initial statement and reaffirm its importance as we approach the 2008 primary election.

In closing, I challenge the other five filed candidates for Lt. Governor to consider the importance of this historic election and the impact it will have on all the people of this great state.

Sincerely,
Mike Evans

OBAMA MANIA! ! !

Say it with me: O-BA-MA, O-BA-MA, O-BA-MA, O-BA-MA!

Since his overwhelming Saturday victory , Sen. Barack Obama!

One more time: O-BA-MA, O-BA-MA, O-BA-MA, O-BA-MA!

Kerry: Swiftboating

The following is an email from Sen. John Kerry on the recent attempts to swift boat Barack Obama. :

I support Barack Obama because he doesn't seek to perfect the politics of Swiftboating -- he seeks to end it.

This is personal for me, and for a whole lot of Americans who lived through the 2004 election.

As a veteran, it disgusts me that the Swift Boats we loved while we were in uniform on the Mekong Delta have been rendered, in Karl Rove's twisted politics, an ugly verb meaning to lie about someone's character just to win an election. But as someone who cares about winning this election and changing the country I love, I know it's not enough to complain about a past we can't change when our challenge is to win the future -- which is why we must stop the Swiftboating, stop the push-polling, stop the front groups, and stop the email chain smears.

The truth matters, but how you fight the lies matters even more. We must be determined never again to lose any election to a lie.

This year, the attacks are already starting. Some of you may have heard about the disgusting lies about Barack Obama that are being circulated by email. These attacks smear Barack's Christian faith and deep patriotism, and they distort his record of more than two decades of public service. They are nothing short of "Swiftboat" style anonymous attacks.

These are the same tactics the right has used again and again, and as we've learned, these attacks, no matter how bogus, can spread and take root if they go unchecked.

But not this time -- we're fighting back.

And when I say "we," I mean that literally. I know Barack is committed to fighting every smear every time. He'll fight hard and stand up for the truth. But he can't do it alone.

We need you to email the truth to your address books. Print it out and post it at work. Talk to your neighbors. Call your local radio station. Write a letter to the editor. If lies can be spread virally, let's prove to the cynics that the truth can be every bit as persuasive as it is powerful.

The Obama campaign has created a place where you can find the truth you'll need to push back on these smears and a way to spread the truth to all of your address book.

Take action here:

http://my.barackobama.com/factcheckaction

So when your inbox fills up with trash and the emails of smear and fear, find the facts, and help defeat the lies.

Barack Obama is committed to bringing our country together to meet the challenges we face, but he knows that power gives up nothing without a struggle -- and to win the chance to change America, we must first defeat the hateful tactics that have been used to tear us apart for too long.

With your help, we can turn the page on an era of small, divisive politics -- but only if next time you hear these attacks on Barack, you take action immediately:

http://my.barackobama.com/factcheckaction

The fight is just heating up -- we won't let them steal this election with lies and distortions.

Thank you,

John Kerry

Mike Evans Endorses Senator Barack Obama

Dear Friends,

The 2008 presidential elections are the most important elections in the recent history of our country. As these elections approach, Americans are plagued by turmoil in the housing market, record high gas prices and a costly war in Iraq. It is time restore a sense of hope and confidence in the American dream. The candidate best suited to do this is Senator Barack Obama.

I'm supporting Senator Obama for many reasons, but the most important to me are: 1) his clear opposition to the war in Iraq from the very beginning, 2) his comprehensive plan to reintegrate our Veterans as they return from war, and 3) his plan to revamp the Veterans health care system. Senator Obama is the candidate that will move our country forward and never forget those who have and continue to serve their country.

As a young private in the Army, I took an oath to never leave a soldier behind. Today, I will continue to honor my oath, like Sen. John Kerry did a few days ago by endorsing Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States.
If you are interested in getting involved, please respond to this email or call the Obama campaign at 314-436-2708. The first major door-knocking effort will be happening next weekend, and your help is needed. Together we can bring this country together again and begin to make some real progress on the issues that are important to all of us.

I hope you will join me.

Sincerely,
Mike Evans
US Army Veteran

Round One Endorsements...

Dear Veterans, Friends and Fellow Missourians:

This week I have endorsed two dynamic and veteran friendly democrats running for office in 2008: Joan Barry and Vicki Englund.

I ask you to stand with me and wholeheartedly support these two candidates. Matt Blunt (R) is the most vulnerable governor seeking reelection, with even some Republicans conceding the race now leans to Attorney General Jay Nixon (D). Blunt's biggest problem has been the fallout from his decision to cut roughly 100,000 people from the Medicaid rolls early in his term. Blunt has been further battered by the complicated, but slowly unfolding, story of Scott Eckersley, a state lawyer who clashed with his superiors over how long to retain e-mails under the law.
